Education
We partner with local parish schools and area universities, advising on curriculum and how to advance student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
As the world turns toward clean energy, the push for smarter, more sustainable solutions accelerates. With the once-thriving pulp and paper industry in inexorable decline across the US South, the market for unavoidable pine plantation thinnings necessary to maximize timber growth for lumber production continues to shrink. That has caused the available feedstock for electric power production to be plentiful and fully sustainable. Our LGF Project will require 1.3 million tons annually for its 100MW wood-powered facility, boosting the struggling forestry industry. With its advanced carbon capture and storage technology, the Project will be one of the few power plants in the world capable of delivering not just low carbon or “net zero” carbon, but actual carbon-negative electricity, offsetting the emissions of others.
For us, the long-term impact our company and projects have on the communities where we operate is a driving force that propels us to keep advancing. Headquartered in a rural area in Northeast Louisiana where over one-quarter of the population lives below the poverty line, we’re focused on making a significant and sustained impact through job and infrastructure improvement to the region. We believe investing in this community both directly and indirectly can transform the region into a flourishing community.
“When we started this project, we knew we wanted to create lasting positive change by bringing jobs, economic opportunities and recognition to Louisiana —home to one of the world’s first power plants designed to deliver carbon-negative electricity.”
Through The Strategic Biofuels Foundation, we support organizations that are focused on improving educational resources, offering skills and career development training, placing an emphasis on social emotional learning, and addressing critical community needs.

Our support for the community runs deep and making a long-lasting impact to improve the quality of life in all facets is a core component of our business. We have supported several partners via sponsorships, scholarships and monetary donations.
We wholeheartedly believe children are our future, and encouraging them to experience team building, camaraderie and fun is why we support extracurricular activities for students across Caldwell Parish.
